The University of California, San Diego is deeply committed to making positive changes to improve campus climate and increase the richness and diversity of our community and curriculum. Lasting improvements to campus climate at UC San Diego require structural, systemic change. We are changing our organizational leadership by expanding the half-time position of our chief diversity officer to a full-time Vice Chancellor position. We are increasing the visibility of our diversity efforts in order for our students, faculty, staff and visitors to see themselves and their communities reflected on our campus. We also are securing the funding necessary to implement the programs, initiatives and actions that will improve campus climate. In addition, we are enhancing our diversity training programs and offering more resources for employees and students in order to increase cultural awareness, knowledge and skills.
